Playwriting, Script Adaptation, Play analysis, Gender and Theatre,
Theatre and Postcolonialism
Assistant Professor Dr. Parida Manomaiphibul is the Head of
Chulalongkorn University’s Department of Dramatic Arts, where
she teaches playwriting, seminar on script writing, theatre history
and critical theory. She finished her Ph.D. in Performance
Practice at University of Exeter, United Kingdom, where her
research through practice focuses on how to use performance
writing to explore Thai women’s tendency for escapism as
reflected in Thai soap operas and the identity of Thai women
affected by westernization and cultural imperialism. Her area of
interest includes performance writing, postcolonial theatre, gender
and theatre, and critical theory. In 2017, Parida received the
Kukrit Award (Literature) for the play "Many Lives". In 2013,
another play she wrote, Chui Chai Saneha, also won the Best
Original Play award at IATC Thailand Dance and Theatre Review
2013 held by the International Association of Theatre Critics-
Thailand Center (IATC-TC).
